COPA COGECA Workshop – H2020 and Horizon Europe Projects

Insects, earthworms, microorganisms and enzymes combined to transform plastic waste.

On the 13th of April, the coordinator of the project. Maria José López will present Recover in the framework of COPACOGECA – Workshop: H2020 and Horizon Europe Projects-, the union of the two big agricultural umbrella organisations COPA and COGECA and the strongest interest group for European farmers.

The coordinator will explain how 17 partners from 7 European countries are working for four years to find possible solutions to the problem of soil contamination and non-recyclable plastics used in agriculture by transforming them into biofertilisers and biodegradable, products.

The challenge is to design new processes for the removal of plastic contamination in soil and compost driven by enzymes and micro-organisms acting in combination.

Insects and earthworms, with the micro-organisms in their digestive systems and the enzymes they produce, act collaboratively, transforming a large part of these plastics into components from which we will extract chitin, an ingredient for biodegradable plastics.

Please registrer here before 6th April.
