Series 4. Plastic Wastes Consolidation and Recycling Approaches
Last 27th May in the framework of EU – ASEAN WEBINAR SERIES, in the series 4: PLastic Wastes Consolidation and Recycling Approaches, the RECOVER project, new biorecycling routes for food packaging and agricultural plastic waste, was presented.
Patrizia Cinelli, professor at the University of Pisa, presented the development of innovative biotic symbioses for the biodegradation and synthesis of plastics to solve their end-of-life challenges in the agricultural and food industries.
In this series 4, which presented examples of EU technologies contributing to improving the management of the plastic value chain and plastic recycling, as well as presenting RECOVER as an example, two other EU-funded Horizon 2020 projects were also presented: PEFerence, which deals with the establishment of a unique, industrial scale, cost-effective biorefinery flagship plant producing FDCA (furan dicarboxylic acid), a bio-based building block to produce high value products and can also be used to make PEF (polyethylene furanoate), that is a 100% bio-based polyester used to make bottles, films and fibres; EFFECTIVE, which produces advanced eco-designed fibres and films for large consumer products from biobased polyamides and polyesters in a circular economy perspective.
