New Technical Specialisation Workshop
RECOVER researchers from University of Almeria, University Miguel Hearnandez and the SME ENTOGREEN participated in a technical workshop organized by the Valencian Government (Spain) about the use of insects in agriculture.
Raul Moral from UMH exposed an introductory view of the general topic of insect beneficial use as bioconversors into the circular economy.
Tomas Cabello & Pablo Barranco presented the link between entomology and agriculture/environment.
Daniel Murta from Entogreen SME described the increasing commercial production of insects oriented to bioconversion of wastes, organic fertilizers and animal feeding. Insect use and specific technology for industrialization are being developed for specific targets vg. Olive oil wastes, or plastics in RECOVER.
Finally, our coordinator Maria Jose Lopez from UAL presented the RECOVER partnership and goals. Specifically reported the new biotech solutions and innovations proposed into this BBI JU H2020 Project, showing the key role of insects on plastic degradation and the microorganisms presented in insect microbiota.
